Our company was founded in 1999 by Dr. Velvet Miller whose work life roles, along with her associates, include decades of experience with direct-care provision, administration in health and human services organizations, and faculty membership in more than five academic institutions.

My Parent's Concierge exists because we understand the emotional impact of coping with aging parents. The responsibilities for the adult children are often overwhelming. Consider the following:

• In 2002, recognizing the trend towards an aging population, 21% of U.S. companies offered eldercare programs, up from 15% in 1998

• In 2001, approximately 10% of people in their 60's, 70's, and 80's sought divorce as a way to find health, happiness and a new start

• 67% of Americans aged 55-84 report frequent sleep problems

• 70% of Americans believe long-term care insurance is important but only 17% actually own such policies.

And these are just some of the issues. Many adult children are new to understanding the aging process and are unable to distinguish what is normal from what is evidence of a deeper medical concern. Adult children, many of whom work full-time, find themselves in the middle of the eldercare maze. They have two struggles - to find the right services for their parents, and to cope with the stress of the changing family roles.
